Salient Federal Solutions Expands Leadership Presence in the Transportation and Logistics Software Engineering Division


Salient Federal Solutions, Inc. (Salient), a leading provider of information technology, engineering, and intelligence analytic services to agencies in the intelligence, defense, homeland security, and federal civilian markets, today announced the appointment of James Patterson as Vice President and Derek Oliver as Chief Technical Liaison of the Transportation and Logistics Division supporting Salient’s existing programs at the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) and the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).

James Patterson is a veteran transportation and logistics software development leader and brings over 25 years managing very large logistics IT programs and played a key role in automating over $2 billion of the USTRANSCOM supply chain.  While on active duty as a U.S. Air Force Colonel, Patterson served as program manager for the USTRANSCOM Household Goods Systems (HHGS) Defense Personal Property System (DPS), deputy program manager for USTRANSCOM Agile Transportation for the 21ST Century (AT21), and program manager for USTRANSCOM Regulating and Command & Control Evacuation System (TRAC2ES).Complementing his multiple active duty assignments, Patterson brings a diverse business management background including serving as CEO of the Pyramid Healthcare Corporation.

Derek Oliver brings 20 years of transportation, logistics, and operations analysis leadership experience to the Salient team. As a U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, Oliver served as the Director for Personal Property Program (DP3) for the U.S. Army Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC).  Prior to Oliver’s leadership of the Department of Defense executive agency for personal property, he served in multiple military leadership roles including Commander, 97th Logistics Readiness Squadron and Commander, 586th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron, Arifjan, Kuwait.  Oliver’s career has been characterized by implementing his insights to yield substantial cost savings in optimizing logistics and transportation systems.
