Oil and gas production down due to bad weather

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA РBad weather conditions have made production of oil and gas in Indonesia to drop, according to upstream oil and gas sector regulator SK Migas. The agency spokesman, Hadi Prasetyo, said here on Monday based on initial reports oil production was estimated to drop minimally 4,900 barrels a day.

“Production activities in the fields have been disrupted by bad weather,” he said.

The decline has been recorded among others at PT Pertamina Hulu Energi West Madura Offshore (PHE WMO) by 2,300 barrels a day where weather problems had caused waves to rise very high and winds to blow very strong to cut electricity supply and damage ships, he said.

“A boat has been capsized (there) but its four crew members were safe,” he added.

Boats that support operations such as accommodation and drilling materials boats had been withdrawn and secured in Gresik, he said. “Right now the winds speed has declined to 12 knot while operations and drilling activities have resumed,” he added.

Hadi said PT Sele Raya meanwhile had lost 1,100 barrels a day in production because of heavy rains that have caused roads to become muddy. “Heavy rainfall has also made river water levels to rise to make oil carrying ships unable to pass through a bridge,” he said.

The oil production of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) to drop 800 barrels a day due to bad weather in the Java Sea. PT Medco South Central Sumatra meanwhile has lost 700 barrels a day because its well operations had been stopped due bad weather.
