New System Aims to Ease Paperwork at Jakarta Port
The state-controlled port operator said it had signed an agreement with seven government institutions to implement Inaportnet, an online system to ease the processing of exports and imports.
The new system will by coordinated by the Tanjung Priok Port Authority in order to ensure a smooth flow of goods and quality export-import services, Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Pelindo II) said in a statement .
“The implementation of Inaportnet will accelerate the implementation of the National Single Window in Indonesia,” Pelindo II operational director Dana Amin said, referring to a scheme that seeks to simplify paperwork requirements for traders. He added that Indonesia is also a part of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Single Window scheme.
The Indonesia National Single Window will allow exporters and importers to register and track all shipments in and out of the country. Processing exports and imports currently involves a lengthy procedure and a lot of paperwork.
Inaportnet will be a service involving port clearance, coordinated by the directorate general for sea transportation, while the sibling Tradenet program will be a service for import-export permits.
The operational implementation of Inaportnet will be tested on July 1 in the Tanjung Priok harbor in North Jakarta.
“In the future, Inaportnet should to be able to integrate with the Indonesia Logistic Community System currently being developed by Pelindo II together with Telkom,” Dana said, referring to a telecommunications company.
