Boddia Port’s Feasibility Study To Complete In Q2/2014

MAKASSAR – Makassar Main Port Authority is targeting to complete the feasibility study of passenger port construction in Boddia coast in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi, in the second half of 2014.

The port physical construction can start in 2015 after the completion of feasibility study, detailed engineering design (DED) and environmental impact analysis this year.

Head of Makassar Main Port Authority Wahyu Widayat said the feasibility study has reached the stage of field survey and will proceed to the DED finalization.

“The central government spent IDR750 million for the feasibility study, which is expected to complete no later than the second half of this year,” he said, Wednesday (4/2).

The development of Boddia passenger port is intended to overcome the significant increase of container and goods inflow in Makassar Port.

So far, the passenger service center is located in the same area with goods and dry bulk unloading.

Thus, the dock in Makassar Main Port is now regarded as multifocal dock that serves cargo, dry bulk and passengers.
