Wika Beton Eyes Maritime Infrastructure Project

JAKARTA – The new government’s focus in maritime and infrastructure sector makes PT Wijaya Karya Beton Tbk (WTON) optimistic to welcome next year’s business. The subsidiary of PT Wijaya Karya Tbk (WIKA) believed precast concrete demand will increase.

According to Puji Haryadi, WTON Corporate Secretary, there will be many projects needing this product besides property. “Everything is precast concrete potential market. Port can be built quickly and efficiently using precast concrete,” he told Kontan on Sunday (11/23).

Besides having developed concrete piling product, WTON also has started to develop maritime precast concrete since the last 10 years. Even though at the time the demand was still limited, this firm has started to conduct anticipation effort. He believed Indonesia as a maritime country will be a potential market for maritime product.

Considering the opportunity, WTON projected to draw IDR 4 trillion revenue by the end of 2015. The number increases for 27.8% from the revenue WTON eyes in this year of IDR 3.13 trillion.

The profit in the next year is predicted to exceed IDR 350 billion. “Last year saw 44% selling portion for infrastructure. Next year, we predict it will be higher since many infrastructure projects will be tendered in the early next year,” he added.

To reach the assigned target, WTON planned to add another new factory in Kalimantan. This firm chooses Kalimantan since the demand of precast concrete comes from the factory in Pasuruan, East Java. Currently, WTON has owned around 12 factories.

Expecting in Cigudeg

Meanwhile, for the rest of this year, WTON tries to build quarry in Cigudeg, Bogor, West Java as one of precast concrete resources. if this project is completed, WTON will rely on this quarry.

WTON management predicted this mining can meet split need which becomes one of the precast concrete main ingredients until the next 30 years.

Moreover, WTON still also has a home work to complete factory establishment of PT Wijaya Karya Krakatau Beton’s subsidiary in Cilegon. “The establishment was started two months ago and in the second half of next year, it can produce precast concrete,” he explained.

Until the end of September 2014, WTON only gains IDR 2.32 trillion revenue or around 74.12% from this year’s target of IDR 3.13 trillion. The revenue grows for 13.73% from the achievement in the similar period last year.

One of the boosters is piling sale in the period drastically increasing from IDR 1.09 trillion in QIII of 2013 to IDR 1.51 trillion. In terms of contract per October 2014, WTON only gains a contract of IDR 2.22 trillion or 74% from the target of IDR 3 trillion.

However, Puji ensured currently, there are many projects eyed to add contract portion. WTON also did not limit the demand only from big consumers. “The management is optimistic the target will be achieved by the end of this year,” Puji added. (Kontan)
