TANJUNG PRIOK Car Terminal Loading Activity Increases 46%
JAKARTA: The realization of car, truck, and heavy equipments loading for export – import shipping through Tanjung Priok Car Terminal during January – May 2012 has reached 147,312 units, up 46% compared to the same period last year of 100,810 units.
Tanjung Priok Car Terminal Unit Head Bimo Widihatmoko said the increase in loading was mainly caused by export shipments from Indonesia to Thailand, Japan, and other Asia countries.
“Car exports during the first five months this year reached 71,870 units, while the imports reached 56,808 units,” he told Bisnis, today, June 5, 2012.
He said the increasing loading volume through Tanjung Priok Car Terminal was also due to the increasing domestic automotive industry during this year.
Bimo said the Tanjung Priok Car Terminal has linked with Indonesia and global automotive industry given the dock facility at the terminal has become a regional hub.
To deal with volume growth in vehicles and heavy equipments export – import through Tanjung Priok port, dock and stockpiling facility development has been prepared, he said
