KKP Suggests for IDR 10.59 Trillion Budget

JAKARTA – Maritime and Fishery Ministry (KKP) suggested for IDR 10.59 trillion budget in 2015 Revised State Budget to Representative House (DOR). This budget increases for IDR 3.86 trillion from the allocation in 2015 State Budget of IDR 6.37 trillion.

The additional budget comes from fuel subsidy allocation. It has been stated by Finance Minister Letter on December 24th 2014 to KKP Minister, Susi Pudjiastuti.

Susi said if the additional budget in 2015 Revised State Budget is ratified by DPR, KKP has provided 10 prioritized programs. Several of which are to resume the construction of Mina Bahari 4 building, to run KKP accountability enhancement and surveillance programs, and to develop captured fishery.

“Captured fish management development comprises the revitalization of captured fish industry and the improvement of fishing vessels from the previous 5-GT to 30-GT capacity,” Susi said on Monday (1/26).

The budget additional will also be used to procure 2,000 converter kits for fishermen. KKP also obtains converter kit aid from Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry so the total converter kit to be distributed to fishermen reaches 50,000 units.

DPR’s Commission IV Deputy Chairman, Viva Yoga Mauladi, said the budget KKP suggested is still far from President Joko Widodo’s vision and mission to make Indonesia a global maritime axis. Ideally, he said, to achieve the vision and mission, the additional budget for KKP must be at least IDR 10 trillion.

The budget can be used to improve maritime security by adding modern patrol vessels, adding sea patrol time, empowering coastal people with fishing tool, and running aquaculture. Viva Yoga said DPR’s Commission IV still cannot ratify KKP’s budget. (Kontan)
