Batam port development

Jakarta: Indonesian state-run port operator Pelindo II will at the end of this year start construction of the Tanjung Sauh Port on Batam Island with its partner, China Merchants Group.

Construction is estimated to cost around Rp5trn ($515m).

First phase development will see a 4m teu facility rise up in the next three years just a short hop away from Singapore. Overall plans could see the port have capacity for 15m teu going forward.
