The First Triple E Vessel to be Named Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller
Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Okpo shipyard recently put the first Triple- E Class container vessels of Maersk into water. According to the reports, the first of the biggest container ships in the world will be name Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller after the late shipping tycoon.
The first Triple E Vessel is scheduled for delivery to the owners in July 2013. The Triple E Vessels are 400 meters in length, 49 meters in width, and 73 meters in height. Each of the giant container ships will have the capacity of carrying 18000 TEU.
The special design of the Triple-E enables these largest container ships to produce 20 percent less CO2 per container moved, compared to Emma Maersk and 50 percent less than the industry average on the Asia-Europe trade lane.
