2 Crew Badly Burned in Cargo Ship Fire Off Hong Kong

A North Korea-registered cargo ship broke out in flames in Hong Kong waters, leaving two crewmen severely injured.

The vessel was located south of Tsing Yi Island when it caught fire shortly after 9 a.m. locally. A fire-fighting ship was sent to attack the blaze, which was reportedly caused by an engine room explosion aboard the ship.

Two crewmembers suffered serious burns, according to the pilot of a government helicopter that took them to be treated at a local hospital, reported the South China Morning Post.

The 1,400-ton, 77-meter-long ship had 13 others on board at the time of the incident, whom are all safe.
