Indonesia Port Corporation II implements the largest Port Community System in the World with SOGET

The Indonesia Port Corporation II has chosen the solutions provided by SOGET and Microsoft Corp. to implement the largest Port Community System in the World. The System will initially be deployed in Jakarta, before further expansion to other Indonesian ports.
Indonesia is the largest archipelagos in the world with 17,508 islands and 111 commercial and 614 non-commercial ports operated within the area. As a result, quick and efficient port operations are crucial to the development and the competitiveness of the country.

Improving the quality of its national supply chain has been one of the priorities of the Indonesian Government since the Port Reform of 2008, with the objective of increasing competitiveness and facilitating the integration of Indonesian trade within a multimodal transportation system. Making the sector more transparent, with a clear separation of regulatory and operating functions established by port authorities, has also been a key element of the reform. The Indonesian Government has encouraged investments by the private sector and local governments to achieve these aims.

Bambang Susantono, Vice Minister of Transportation, says: “The application of such system will strengthen and accelerate Inaportnet (Indonesia Port Net System) implementation. As the Inaportnet is a vital element of Indonesia domestic and international connectivity. Enhancing connectivity will undoubtedly improve logistic performance and increase Indonesian economy competitiveness.”

RJ Lino, CEO of IPC adds: “The implementation in Indonesia of the largest Port Community System in the world will allow our ports to increase dramatically their level of activity while complying with international trade facilitation and security standards. Connectivity established by Port Community System will speed up the integration of trade at both domestic and international levels and accelerate Indonesia economic development by improving its logistics performance and competitiveness. It is also a key support to the Masterplan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Economic Development of Indonesia (MP3EI) implementation.”
Since 2010, SOGET has worked with Microsoft on the development of the next generation of Port Community Systems. Acting as a Port Single Window, the solution developed ensures efficient port operations. Its benefits include improved transparency of information, enhanced communications, shortened port transit time for cargos, easier transactions, simplified control processes, decreased costs, etc.

Frank McCosker, Managing Director of Microsoft Global Strategic Accounts, explains: “With the increasingly complex demands of global trade, and mounting pressure on ports across the world to effectively manage both security concerns and facilitate trade, there has never been a more pressing need for an open, integrated and innovative solution for the e-maritime industry. Based on the most advanced Microsoft technology, SOGET’s Port Single Window makes multimodal transport greener, cheaper, more competitive and transparent by standardizing core functional processes, facilitating business networking, improving knowledge, and dealing with all stakeholders.”

Pascal Ollivier, Director of Corporate Development of SOGET stated: “Facilitating domestic and international trade is increasingly important in today’s interconnected world. Innovative technologies can help countries to adapt and compete globally by bringing together disparate organizations into a comprehensive and integrated system. We are pleased to implement the largest Port Community System in the world for Indonesia, one of the most promising nations in the ASEAN and globally in terms of port traffic and GDP growth.”
