IAPA president asks Vietnam to support negotiation of South China Sea
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia asks Vietnam, as Country Coordinator ASEAN-China, to be actively involved in resolving the conflict of South China Sea. Vietnam should encourage every party to conduct constructive, effective, and strategic consultation and negotiation.
“With such steps, the conflict in South China Sea can be solved in peace without using military power,” Speaker of Indonesian House of Representatives, Marzuki Alie, said in his capacity as President of ASEAN Interparliamentary Assembly (AIPA) on his working visit to Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia.
During his meeting with the Speaker of Vietnamese Parliamentary, Marzuki expects the bilateral cooperation in investment and trade to increase. His Vietnamese counterpart, the Speaker of Vietnamese Parliamentary Nguyen Sinh Hung, appreciated his visit and promised to boost bilateral cooperation, mainly on economy.
