Consortium Of Container Terminal: Support From The Regional House Of Representative Provided

 

Several parties, especially the business actors in East Java gave their support on the steps taken by Pelindo I, II, III and IV in form of breakthrough by establishing consortium in Container Terminal sector combining and assuring connectivity process of the service sector from east-west regions of Indonesia.

Such had known, the discussion between four State-owned Enterprises in port sector (Pelindo I, II, III and IV) on the establishment of Indonesian Container Terminal Consortium had been conducted in Jakarta on last 20 May 2012.

Even, to well-prepare the connectivity in range of logistic and container distribution channel, the fourth State-owned Enterprises held advanced discussion in Surabaya on 4-5 June 2012.
The Vice Chairman of Commission B (Economy) of East Java Regional House of Representative stated that the primary problems in Indonesia, specifically in commerce sector is the lower logistic sector effectiveness in reminding the range of regions with thousands islands as the barrier of connectivity.

“The fact is, the Indonesian logistic connectivity level ranking, from World Bank survey, is relatively low for Southeast Asia region. Although it is increasing if compared with 2010 in position 75 from 155 countries, in 2011 it increased on position 50s. But this position in ASEAN, is just higher than Cambodia,” said Lutfie, Sunday, (10/6).

In addition, the Vice Chairman of Commission D (Infrastructure) of East Java Regional House of Representative, Mahdi, said the need of serious effort for island-separated connectivity in Indonesia can be well resolved so that there would be logistic distribution smoothness.
