Sailing Cost Remains High

JAKARTA – Traditional fishermen asked the government to immediately revamp solar distribution system to fisherman villages related to no impact of fuel price drop in this January to sailing cost.

Indonesian Traditional Fisherman Association (KNTI) Chairman, Riza Damanik, said currently, the average solar price in every fisherman village remains high following the previous fuel price hike.

“The price is averagely high and varies around 30-60% from the price assigned by the government,” he told Bisnis on Sunday (1/4).

He said it occurs since the previous fuel price hike has escalated sailing cost and domestic needs of fishermen for 30%.

Prior to that, the government decided to assign new prices for premium fuel, solar, and kerosene on January 1st 2015. The premium fuel’s price is IDR 7,600 from the previous IDR 8,500. Solar’s price is IDR 7,250 from the previous IDR 7,500.

Indonesian Fisherman Association (HNSI) Energy and Facility Chairman, Siswaryudi Heru, said solar price among fishermen is higher due to distribution issue. However, solar price drop of IDR 250 has reduced sailing cost. (Bisnis Indonesia)
