Pelindo III Buys Equipments Worth IDR797 Billion From China
SURABAYA – PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III signed a purchasing contract for port operational support equipments worth US$68.2 million or IDR797 billion with a state-owned company from China, Dalian Huarui Heavy International Co. Ltd.
PT Pelindo III Head of Public Relations Edi Priyanto said the company purchases two groups of items. First item is 8 units of new container cranes worth US$48.2 million for Banjarmasin Port, Tanjung Perak Port, and Semarang Container Terminal.
Second item is 2 units of new grab ship un-loader worth US$19.9 million for Teluk Lamong Terminal. The purchasing contract was signed on Monday (11/25/2013).
“Transport of goods using container through sea transport is a prima donna nowadays. This is the reason why Pelindo III adds 8 units of container cranes (CC),” he said, Monday (11/25/2013).
From these 8 new container cranes, Pelindo will place 4 units in Banjarmasin port, which also has had 4 similar equipments. Furthermore, it will also place 2 units in Nilam Timur Multipurpose Terminal (TMTL) at Tanjung Perak Port Surabaya and 2 units in Semarang.
As for 2 units of grab ship un-loader, these equipments will be operated in Teluk Lamong Terminal at Tanjung Perak Port to accelerate unloading services for dry bulk goods.
According to Edi, container flows through Pelindo III working area in 2008 and 2009 stood at 2.9 million twenty-foot equivalent units (teus). It has reached to 3.2 million teus in 2010, 3.5% million teus in 2011, and 3.9 million teus in 2012.
In third quarter of 2013, the container flows in Tanjung Perak Port Surabaya reached 2.2 million teus, 365.323 Teus in Semarang Container Terminal, and 317.236 teus in Banjamasin Container Terminal Banjarmasin.
