Pelindo III to invest USD 10.75m in fixed cranes at three portsBlame game begins in Tanjung Priok port gridlock

(SeeNews) – Jul 9, 2013 – Indonesian state-owned port operator Pelabuhan Indonesia III, or Pelindo III, plans to invest USD 10.75 million (EUR 8.4m) in the construction of fixed cranes at the Gresik, Batulicin and Lembar ports.

Pelindo III signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the project with a consortium of Indonusa Harapan Masa, Bukaka Teknik Utama and Jiangsu Gangyi Heavy Machinery, which will be responsible for the construction of the cranes, the port operator said last week.

With the project, Pelindo III intends to help the ports cope with the significant increase in traffic which rose to 15,188 TEU in Lembar and soared 204% year-on-year in Batulicin in 2012.

Pelindo III also launched a IDR 96 billion (USD 9.6bn/EUR 7.5m) project for the expansion of the Tenau port, destined to reduce its berth-occupancy ratio through the construction of a 100-m (328 ft) long jetty.

The Indonesian firm has teamed up with state-run infrastructure company Adhi Karya on the Tenau project.
