The 2nd case unfolded the following day when the cruise ship Carnival Conquest located a group of people on a disabled raft vessel waving a white flag nearly 30 nautical miles southwest of Marquesas Key. The cruise vessel embarked thirteen survivors and coordinated with the USCG to rendezvous with the Coast Guard Cutter Confidence to transport the migrants.

The Amver participating vessel Desert Hope was also diverted to assist and found the ship. While making maneuvers in order to perform a rescue of the survivors, the crew lowered a ladder.
